MENA Climate Week in Dubai

MENA Climate Week 2022 provides a platform for governments, cities, private sector leaders, financial institutions, and civil society to discuss opportunities to build forward from the pandemic by identifying opportunities to enhance climate action. The event will bring together key stakeholders to take the pulse of climate action in the region, explore climate challenges and opportunities, and showcase ambitious solutions.

The sessions taking place during the four-day event are organized into three tracks:

National actions and economy-wide approaches;
Integrated approaches for climate-resilient development;
Seizing transformation opportunities.

The event was the first of four regional climate weeks in 2022 to be held throughout the year in advance of COP 27 in Egypt. Organized every year in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East and North Africa Regions. The regional climate weeks are collaborative platforms for government and non-party stakeholders to address climate issues under one umbrella and with unity of purpose.

As part of the event, YKCenter president and cofounder, Tal Ronen, presented “The New Middle East and National Transformation”. An account of working with President Shimon Peres and working for a better future at YKCenter. From the event:

“In 1993, the late president of Israel, Shimon Peres, proposed “A New Middle East”. A daring vision for the Middle East, free of conflict and full of regional cooperation. Tal Ronen is one of the architects of the “New Middle East” plan. As a close confidant and coach to President Peres, Tal Ronen was privileged to the thoughts from the back of the mind of Shimon Peres and other leaders working on, what at the time was, a rebellious reenvisioning of reality.

Over the past decade, Tal Ronen has been applying his lived experiences and learnings to create visionary change in businesses and organizations. Since 2012, Tal Ronen has also been working with Prof. Yehuda Kahane, a world-renowned economist and thinker on transformation towards sustainability, and more recently, the SDGs. Throughout their shared work, Tal has been focused on and proposing an idea called “TransformNation”. TransformNation is a merging of Prof. Kahane’s economic thinking, Tal Ronen’s methodologies, and national alignment with the SDGs. These ideas combine to create a plan for national-level transformation and align with the necessary paradigm shift into sustainability. The event will be a sharing of Tal’s work from behind the scenes with Shimon Peres to this very day, where Tal is working to create national-scale transformation around the world.”
